Demonstration of Mounting Resins for Material Preparation and Analysis
Please join our live demonstration of both hot and cold mounting.
Mounting samples is often necessary to protect fragile or coated materials during preparation and to obtain perfect edge-retention. Struers offers two different types mounting methods, hot mounting and cold mounting, the choice of which is determined by many factors including: type of material, specimen characteristics, quantity of specimens, and quality requirements. Epoxies like ProntoFix are ideal for vacuum impregnation of porous specimens and for high edge-retention requirements, while still maintaining a fast cure time. Conversely, hot mounts can provide a quicker process time, but the heat and pressure may damage sensitive specimens. The most appropriate resin will depend on your application and your examination goals. This webinar will provide a live demonstration on the best practices for hot and cold mounting.
This event will cover:
- Mounting techniques and consumables
- Advantages and disadvantages of epoxies and acrylics
- Mounting accessories
- Hot and cold mounting differences and best practices
